What Can Israel Give Away for Peace?

Gary Cooperberg, December 13, 2007

As Kassams keep flying into Sderot from Gaza our government cannot seem to find a solution. The mayor of the town, so completely frustrated at the impotence of the Israeli government, has resigned in protest.

Barak, our defense minister, claims that it is a complicated problem and will take time to solve.

What they all seem to forget is the fact that we handed Gaza over the PLO as a good will gesture. Instead of good will we have gotten nothing but bombs! We signed no agreement and have absolutely no obligation to continue to permit our enemies to use Gaza as a free zone from which to attack Israel. On the contrary. We have an obligation to go back into Gaza and drive out our enemies completely. Now that no Jews are living there this should be able to be accomplished with relative simplicity.

But such an action may tend to hinder our peace efforts. Thus no one in our government would as much as suggest such an action.

One cannot help but wonder why terrorist attacks against Israel never tend to hinder peace efforts. Are we so stupid that we cannot see the contradiction here? No country has an obligation to accept terror. Yet our leaders seem to think we do! The fact is that the Arabs can have peace in a minute were they to seriously want it. It should be clear to any honest observer that the only goal the Arabs have is the destruction of the Jewish State. Even now, the moderate Abu Mazen, who hasnt a hope to defeat Israel, has no problem openly stating his unwillingness to accept the concept of a Jewish State. So what exactly is it that we are negotiating?

Any self respecting Jewish leadership would easily understand that we have no choice. We cannot live with any entity which refuses to accept the existence of a Jewish State. Every Arab who calls himself a palestinian is demonstrating his refusal to recognize the Jewish State. This is his right. And it is our right, and obligation, to remove all such Arabs from our borders.

The government of the Jewish State has gone to Madrid, to Oslo, to Camp David, and to Annapolis in order to reach out to our enemies to make peace. Every effort has resulted in clear proof that they do not want to make peace with us. As such we have no excuse to continue the charade.

It is high time for any Jewish leadership to accept the futility of such talks and begin to take steps to protect our tiny nation.

The first step is to undo the Gaza folly and completely remove our enemies from there and repopulate the entire area with only Jews. The second step is to declare that all Arabs who call themselves palestinians are personna non grata and must leave Israel within two months. Those who agree to leave peacefully will receive both financial and physical assistance from the Israeli government. Those to refuse will be thrown out.

All Arabs who wish to live in Israel must sign statements rejecting identity as palestinian and accept the fact that they will never be permitted citizenship, only alien resident status.

Israel is a very tiny country. There is no sane reason why it should feel a need to provide a home for Arabs who have twenty two countries of their own, every one of which is far larger than Israel. There is nothing complicated about such a stance, nor is it unreasonable. It is simply honest, and the only way we can look toward a future without the horrors we have been enduring until now. The only thing Israel can afford to give away for peace...is her enemies.
